Is it possible to repair a break in the cable between the headphones and the 'puck'?
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

Probably. My grandson managed to pull the wire out of some really expensive head phones (£100 +)
I removed the soft foam cushion and had to cut / snip away some bits of plastic to remove the earphone. Re-soldered the wires and melted the bits of plastic back together (with the solder iron)
This was hidden once the cushion was replaced.0 -
Of course it is.
OPen the puck, take a good close up photo or draw a diagram - note the colours & where they go.
Cut the wires leaving 10mm still attached to the PCB.
Find out where the break in the cable is & trim the cable back 1" beond that (this is likely to also include removing the ferrite ring that is for emc reduction) and bare the ends of the inner wires & tin them.
They have a high temperature coating on them, so using a sharp blade may be necessary.
Now you can remove the 10mm wires left on the PCB - one at a time - remove one - solder the new one on.
Reassemble - you will need a new method of stopping the cable being pulled out.
To do this if you cut it off and slice it lengthways you can remove the cable from within, then using superglue - glue it over the shortened cable.
I have done this a few times on headsets and will be doing this to my X4's soon.0 -
Or they are £12 on ebay.0
