EDF - new computer system !!
My Dad had a letter today from EDF,
the account number was different and the jist of it was please pay £200 and some odd quid for the dual gas and electrickery,
or give us a meter reading by 3rd of April. :eek:
So I 'phones up, they've got a new computer system and it's "down". The big idea is that is super duper wonderful, I'm must confess I gave the chap on the 'phone a bit of an ear bending.
3rd of April is a Sunday, so there won't be any one to take the info will there...:mad:
Dad has paid all his bills up to date,as per meter readings, so why they want another £200odd is beyond me, but they've asked me to 'phone back on Monday to see if their system is working so they can find out whats happened..
So if you get a funny letter from EDF with the 'wrong' account number, it's because they've bought a new computer with you're money.

Almost as good as the EDF bill I recieved on Saturday which was all singing and dancing about using actual readings and how acurate it was.
Shame it was 2500 units out! I think they made them up, now the battle of getting it put right, the call centre operative was most unhelpful and told me it MUST be correct. Only when pushed did she fill out a dispute form and told me it would take at least 4 weeks to sort it out.These are my thoughts and no one else's, so like any public forum advice - check it out before entering into contracts or spending your hard earned cash!
I don't know everything, however I do try to point people in the right direction but at the end of the day you can only ever help yourself!0 -

You should raise a formal complaint either by letter or e-mail, see their contact us page.
They are then obliged to respond and the complaint gets logged against their service ratings.
Lots of onlineversion7 dissatisfaction has been registered with EDF and their super computer system that cannot be accessed by on-line customers!0 -

I have so far struggled for over two weeks to get confirmation from EDF on the status of my gas & electricity accounts.
Logged on using the new userid they gave me..great can't see anything beyond I am over £600 in credit but no breakdown between gas & electricity.
Phoned them up and said I couldn't see anything in detail.
No you won't see anything until we have billed you they said.
But what about all the information that was in my previous account ? No you can't see that as you are a new user on the new system. But but I am old customer on the old system I said ?? Sorry all historical information is gone.
So can I go back to the old system then ? No you can't.
But we will send you a copy of your last bill, which they tried and I received two copies of the same letter but no bill. The last sentence on the letter said I was a valued EDF customer...really!!!
So as instructed I submitted meter readings still nothing and that is over a week ago.
Have emailed then to confirm they have got meter readings but nothing.
This is one customer who will be switching from EDF when my contract expires in July.0
