airport hotel or vancouver downtown??

can everyone help me to decide
we are droping off an rv in delta and have got one day and night before we fly back to england from vancouver airport we fly out around 6pm. I dont know what to do wether to stay in a hotel in downtown vancouver close to shops and things to do and then get a taxi to the airport OR book a airport hotel which looks alot nicer and cheaper and have a free shuttle to the airport the next day. ???? would we have to get taxis to downtown vancouver for shops and seeing things if we went for the airport hotel???
please help me decide and reccomendations for hotels would be appreciated

    Hi
Don't know if this help, we stayed in the Days Inn Vancouver.
Free breakfast, free airport shuttle. Very kind helpful people.
We should have left our room (I think 10am) but we explained our flight wasn't until 4pm.
They let us stay in our room until luch time, no extra charge.
Only problem nothing to see or do near hotel so you have to travel to downtown Vancouver

We stayed at the Hampton Inn & Suites at the bottom end of Robson (near BC Place), it has a free airport shuttle. Walking distance down Robson or walking distance to the Skytrain to take that downtown. Lovely hotel with a rooftop jacuzzi and mini-gym with views over the city. Free newspapers and a good buffet style breakfast. Very comfortable beds with lovely white cotton sheets and duvets. Fridge in room (perfect for that bottle of wine - reception will provide a corkscrew), microwave, coffee making facilities. Clean. Can't recommend it enough as you can tell. Stayed there for 3 weeks and didn't regret it. Milehouses on Denman have a lovely restaurant (quite pricy but fantastic food) with beautiful views over English Bay if you want somewhere special to eat on your last night or Rosie's just a short walk away or even a steakhouse across the road from the hotel. Off-licence 5 minutes walk near the library.
