    I have just found the disk that came with the netbook " Drivers and utilities "

    what would I be looking for on this for installing the driver

    Morning,
    go to control panel,network and sharing centre. On the left there is a line saying manage wireless settings, there shoould be an entry for your wifi , there may be another/more see if yours is set to connect automatic .


    found it and it's set to connect automatically

    getting these messages when I do troubleshooting:

    Atheros AR9285 802.11b/g/n wifi adapter is experiencing driver or hardware related problems.

    Sorry missed that.
    The spectre of a hardware failure looms, is it still in warranty?
    I'd hook it up with an ethernet cable and try running the Dell diagnostics.

    I think the dell mini10 has a mini plug in wireless card accessed underneath via a panel... perhaps it's become slightly dislodged and needs refitting?

    Just a thought... remove battery/power and carry out antistatic precautions before tinkering

    There is no access from the underside on my 1018, may be on earlier models.
    When I upgraded my memory I found a useful video on You Tube.

    This one may be helpful.

    oh I've got the earlier mini9 Dell which has a panel underneath that unscrews to reveal several parts.
