my dad recently passed away suddenly and the life insurance he had said they covered everything for him except death. seems a bit odd as it was a life insurance specialist company! we only found that dad had this through a direct debit, but we have no documents. is there anything we can do about this? the monthly premiums were being paid. please help!!

Perhaps it was a critical illness policy not life cover. They're not going to say he wasn't covered for death if it was a life insurance policy.0

Life assurance can take many forms. One of the cheapest types is accidental death cover. Die of natural causes and it won't pay out. Critical illness cover pays out while you are still alive, but doesn't cover death.
The company can only pay out if Dad was insured with the right kind of policy. Find out what it did actually cover him for.0 -
Life assurance companies dont just offer life assurance. They offer a range of other insurances. What was the type of policy in question? The insurer can give its generic name if you ask themI am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

Contact the insurance company and ask for full details of the policy and an explanation of why they are unable to settle a claim. If left in any doubt post back and people will help.0
