I got married at Caerlaverock Castle which is between Dumfries and Gretna. It was a really good day and would definatley recommend getting married up there!
We used www.gretnaweddings.co.uk0 -

We got married at Gretna Green at The Olde Blacksmiths shop, we stayed at Smyths Hotel in one of the suites (highly recommend that) The whole thing was just perfect, not at all tacky - id love go again for a blessing even though its only been 3years in August.
Hope you have a wonderful wedding whatever you decide to do.0 -
I got married at the Blacksmiths Cottage @ Gretna Green. TBH Gretna Greeen is much nicer than Gretna. Above comment about the reg office is true....opposite the shops & terribly unromantic!! It was just me, DH & the girls who were 4 & 2. Told no-one! Hired a car, stayed at www.browhouses.co.uk & hired Colin Wyper as our photographer. Photos ready 24 hours later. We had no witnesses & told the lady at the Blacksmiths shop the day before & she got us 2 lovley sisters who were staying at the Gretna Hall Hotel. They were ever so chuffed! It was lovely.
We visited the Anvil Hall & although a pretty place I was disappointed to see it was in the middle of a housing estate in Gretna! Just letting you know!
As I said, Gretna Green is better....IMO!0
