Recalling WTC payment

Hi all. My Working Tax Credit is due on Friday. I'm in dispute with my bank and am in the process of changing banks. It will get swallowed if it is received. Appreciate you can insist on them giving it me as it's a benefit but i'd rather not go there.

I've asked HMRC to recall the payment however they say they can't. I was under the impression that you could recall up to the day it was credited.

When I worked for the DWP we recalled benefit payments that has been despatched via BACS. Has something changed?

Does anyone know if HMRC are telling the truth here?

If you are in debt you can ask them for a notice of appropriation for this month's benefit.
This will only work once and the branch staff may not be able to authorise it.
Are you under the bank's collections service at all?

Perhaps if we had more information as to what the dispute is about we may be able to help further.

Ta but just want to know if they can recall. Can't really believe they can't. Just think they're being lazy.

I would say no they cannot.
You have not given them sufficent time to change your bank account details.
