Hi All,

my friend from work got rear ended in her car on monday and her car was written off.
The young girl who went into her was obviously in the wrong and has admitted as much.
My mate's insurance company has already offered her a fairly decent price for her car which she is going to accept.
The other girl's insurance company rang my friend yesterday and asked if she would deal with them direct (for the whiplash injury) as her own insurers would charge them treble etc.
She said she would probably would if they would reimburse her loss of earnings for this week and physio appts that she needs plus the actual injury compo.
They said if she can provide all the necessary paperwork to back this up they would come to her house tomorrow evening and collect them.
I thought that it was very weird that someone else's insurance co. would pay a home visit.
Has anyone else heard of this before?
Many thanks in advance
Lisa

Yes its normal if you agree to go direct through as opposed to through a claim company or your own insurer as they would be validating all the details etc instead of the others.

KY will help with the soreness (or so I’m told) :D

    On a serious point….

There is no downside to dealing direct with the TP insurance company and if the offer for the car hasn’t been accepted/paid yet she would be better off cancelling the claim with her own insurance company and doing it all via the TP one.

Make sure she keeps a record of all out of pocket expenses as they are recoverable too.

The only caveat I’d add is when they make an offer for her injuries post it on here or ring a specialist solicitor to make sure a reasonable offer.

It's becoming more common as the deskilling of insurance continues, in fact I'm surprised they didn't agree a two cheque payment over the phone - one for the car and one for PI.

Asa matter of interest what is the other company called?

We had a none blame accident last year and the other company were pressuring us to take their offer! which we declined....we got more from our company.
The other company in our case were Admiral.

    They practically stalked us!
