The seller has dropped the case, and gone for `cancellation of the transaction' So no more worry, Ebay arn't going to follow any action either, as they were threatening a strike and even cancelling my account , so good news, my advice is: never bid for a vehicle without viewing, there are too many rogues out there, and if things arn't right walk away with your money.

He would never have won considering your defence of not as described, a court would look and see you travelled all the way up there, which shows your intent to buy, but couldn't go through with it? Why? Most likely explanation is not as described. I iked the gem from eBay, "pay first, dispute later", hmmm, I think I'd rather lose my eBay account than £1400 :rotfl:

I think its standard for companies to ask you to pay first then sort it later. Even though apparently (i read it on a factsheet linked by someone yesterday) its illegal for them NOT to place the amount into dispute while it is investigated if you say you're not liable for it.

I remember a few years back i only had internet with virgin media @ £10 a month. They mistakenly put a business installation on my account to the value of over £400 which restricted my service. When i called them they wanted me to pay it until they could sort it.....then it would show as a credit on my account. I believe in paying up front for things (to avoid possible debt) but more than 3 years up front? pffffft not flipping likely.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

Does that still work when there is a third party involved? So far what i have worked out with ebay is although they have all these policies as to what you can and cant do and all the repercussions, if this bloke didn't want to refund my money, i have no control apart from taking it to law.
Having read lots of horror stories on the ebay forum some never see a penny back and thats using pay pal.
I was lucky i stood my ground and they backed down, and my account hasn`t altered, no restrictions as a non payer!
