I am a student currently at uni and when I return home I would like to use my car. Does anyone know of a company that does car insurance for short periods for under 21s??
Many thanks,
Tom

Hi - I think https://www.ecarinsurance will cover you for a month at a time but not for shorter periods under their monthly pay as you go scheme. They will cover drivers from age 17.Day insure and the other short term insurance schemes do not cover under 21s.0

dayinsure.com covers 21 and over, providing the car is not a high insurane group
It covers anything from 1 to 28 daysLightbulb moment = Jan 06

Dont know if its a longshot but Ive just bought a new (to me!) car and they give me free 7 day cover from Norwich Union. Would possibly suggest to me they allow you to insure your car for a short period of time perhaps?? Worth a try!
Why not get insured under whoever is insuring it at the minute? (parent?) im assuming it is insured, they have to be dont they? (might be wrong on that one)0 -
norwich union do short-term car insurance but I can't see what the age restrictions are

a car doesn't have to be insured, it can be off the road.
But it may be worth getting a parent to be insured and you as a named driver. It is possible to cancel a policy part way but you often get less than pro-rata back so it's worth checking any potential policies to see.Indecision is the key to flexibility0 -
The above is only legitimate if the parent is going to be the main driver - if not then it is a fronted policy and considered fraudAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

didnt know that!
what happens if some chav knicks it and runs somebody over?0 -
Then the Motor Insurers Bureau's untraced or uninsured driver agreement comes into play depending on if the chavs are caught or not.
It may be worth getting Fire and Theft only cover whilst it is off the road in case some thing happens to it whilst it is off the road - the theft element would cover your chav incident tooAll posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers
