Electrical safety inspection test and certificate
I have been trying to arrange this for a flat which I am buying, before I find a tenant. The quotes I have been given range from £125 to £225! They say the circuits will be tested for this money and the time spent varies between 2 hours and "all day" I really do not know what they should do and whether the costs are reasonable . Any views please?

Depends how much work there is - every socket, lamp has to be tested, every permanent appliance has to be disconnected during the wiring test and reconnected afterwards. So a large flat with electric heating and lots of low voltage halogen spots that have to be disconnected will cost more than a small flat with 4 lamps and 5 sockets.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0

Thats not strictly true. An Periodic inspection and test just a sample of the electrical system.0
