Sony 17" TFT Monitor Blurry Text?????

Hi everyone advice needed from you techie guys!!!

I have a 17" sony tft monitor i think its a SDM E76D

when i look at web pages all teh words are ever so slightly blurry!!! its like on my old monitor and i used to demagnetise it and it would work again then!!

What has caused this on teh new monitor?? i have only had it since september!!!

its like there is a shadow on the screen or something over the words.

Your screen resolution should be set to 1280x1024 which is the default resolution. If you have recently upgraded to IE7 it may be the cleartype causing your problem, as it doesn't work with all monitors. Try switching it off in the options.

nope havent upgraded to IE7 yet!!!!

it has only just started today i think (was to ill yesterday to notice if it was broken!!)

have you changed the resolution?

and reseated the vga cable/checked for bent pins?

it was the cables!!!!!! i feel a bit silly now

one of the screw things had come a bit loose so i tightened it and it all became clear before my eyes!!!!
