Euro Modules vs MK LJU6C vs MK Modular

What is the difference between these types of modular system?

I've studied the MK Logic Plus Catalogue (PDF) and cannot understand why LJU6C and MK Modular types exist because the Euro type would appear to do the same things (and more).

From what I can see, the Euro system uses 50mm x 25mm modules which are standard across manufacturers.

MK does the following Euro modules:
  • Electrical, including UK and other nations sockets
  • RJ11/RJ12
  • RJ45 Cat 5 and Cat 6
  • BNC socket
  • TV/FM/DAB and satellite
  • Audio & HD

MK LJU6C has the following modules available:
  • RJ11/RJ12
  • RJ45 Cat 5 and Cat 6

MK Modular has only UK telephone and RJ11/RJ12 sockets available.

So why do the LJU6C and MK Modular when those accessories are available in the much broader Euro range? What are the advantages of using these instead of euro?

I always thought that LJ6C was the domestic / business standard used in other parts of the world (i.e. not euro). We all have different plug sockets so i just presumed that data ports were also different. I'm guessing the U part stands for unshielded?

Also, I'm pretty sure LJ6C is the module size used in modular patch panels so it could have something to do with compatibility there?

So perhaps they just stock it to provide compatibility for people who are already using the LJ6C system. The fact they only stock RJ11 and RJ45 LJ6C sockets would suggest it's for businesses rather than homes.

    MK Modular is being discontinued.
MK Euro modular is not and are all standard 25mm x 50mm modules.

Most of the installations I see are Euro, pretty sure LJ6C is the Us standard.

Apart from MK I can't think of any other wiring accessory manufacturer that produces data plates that match other accessories in LJ6C.

Just be careful mixing and matching though as Euro is not a hard standard and different modules uses different clip features. So some plates work better with some modules. I've seen some where the fit is so sloppy they almost pull of of the wall.

    Thanks for the replies.

The euro system seems to be the most versatile.
