New Gas Fire Smells

Hi
My mother in law recently had a new Flavel Calibre Balanced Flue gas fire which gave off strong fumes. We do know that all new gas fires smell for the first few hours use but as it had been on full for over 20 hours and the fumes were still there the manufacturer replaced the fire but unfortunately the new one is the same. The replacement fire has been left on full for over 30 hours (with all the windows open) and is still giving off very strong fumes which fill the whole house. Any advice on what the problem might be would be appreciated and has anyone else has had the same problem?
Thanks

    Who fitted it?

Was all the internal packaging removed properly?

  • Thanks for the replies.
The fire was fitted by a gas safe engineer recommended by the shop where it was bought so I'm assuming he removed the internal packing.
My mother in law has got a carbon monoxide tester and that seems to be ok.
  • Hi i just had the same gas fire fitted and having the same issue regarding the smell, did yours stop smelling in end? or did you manage to find out what the issue was? Many Thanks
