Hello
Well I'm confused and hate computers lol
I can get online no problem but the Realtek icon on the system tray says 'Realtek USB Wireless LAN is Disconnected'
I use a USB adaptor to get online but not sure why this is showing up?
Im using Windows XP and in Control Panel/Network Connections it says connected and not sure what's going on?
Anyone know why this is?
Thanks
Sunni

Yes, you've probably enabled Windows wireless utility software to manage the wireless device rather than the Realtek wireless software utiltiy.
You no doubt have another icon that shows signal strength of what you're connected to? - double click and you'll open up the Windows wireless utility tool that manages the wireless instead of the realtek's own version. In there you'll see an option that says 'let Windows manager wireless adaptor' or something to that effect. Untick this and then the realtek software takes over (and will need setting up to find your wireless network)
Both do much the same, Windows might be simpler for many users and if it works ok I'd leave it alone!
Confusingly the realtek (who make the wireless hardware in the PC) software is not being used in this case so it says it's disabled - well their software utility is but their hardware isn't.

Thanks for the link. Followed it and ticked the 'use windows to configure my wireless settings'
Also went into 'wireless zero configuration' and clicked 'start' and everything seems to be working now.
Hope I've the settings ok now0
