Talk Talk Direct Debit

Hey guys
Just checked my account to see if a cheque has gone out only to find I have been charged by Talk Talk on the 30th putting me over my agreed overdraft. Now my DD date is the 2nd of each month so am I in my rights to bring this to their attention? Also as I am now going to be charged for this by Natwest is there anything I can do? Apart from go back to sky lol

Cheers
Dave

Tell NatWest to reject the DD as "amount not due". This will not incur any charges if you act today. I've done this with TalkTalk loads of times because they often take DDs too early.

They don't give the required 10 working days' notice of a DD, in that they wait until several days after the billing date to give notice. Furthermore their systems are programmed to take DDs 14 calendar days, rather than the required 10 working days, from the billing date. This is apparent when there are bank holidays.

This happened to me so many times that I insisted to TalkTalk that I pay manually by credit card each month and that they waive the non-DD surcharge. Eventually I switched from TalkTalk because of this and other bad customer service issues.

There was a note on my online bill in small writing saying that the payment would now be collected 7 days after the bill was generated.
You need to ring talk talk to change your date / threaten to leave.

This is the sort of thing why I no longer like direct debits. They leave you with no control what so ever.
