Alternatively, ditch TSB & switch (keyword: Switch) to Santander. Bag their £100 joining bonus by meeting the criteria & receive 5% on their preferred current account.
Of course, you don't have to ditch Lloyds.

All Santander need is a current account transfer. A Vantage is a current account. Make up a couple of SOs (paid to yourself if need be), ring up a firm you pay by DD and ask them to transfer to your Vantage account, then take up Santander's offer.

It worked fine for me and I found customer service in Santander's branch very good and extermely helpful.

That's exactly what i was saying.

I would expect the individual to look into it & realise they can't ditch TSB at the start. If i was spelling it out i should've probably put the term "ditch" at the end of the sentence to avoid confusion. I wouldn't expect someone to ditch them at the start, as then they'd have nothing to switch from (unless using a different CA)

What I was meaning was I still continue to use my Lloyds Classic as my main current account, but used the Vantage a/c (which wouldn't normally have had any SOs or DDs and didn't even have a cheque book) purely for the purposes of the transfer. But, in fact, though Santander connect with Lloyds to transfer SOs & DDs, neither side closes the account, so I still have my Vantage account too.

I did exactly the same with the £200 Coop offer. Switched one of my vantage a/cs with just 2 standing orders and lesft the account open. I later resurected the Vantage a/c and set up new S/O so business as usual +£200 (albeit in 4 months from opening) from the Coop!
If the ball had gone in the net it would have been a goal.

Had call this morning from them wanting me to go for review, only opened in Dec! Explained did not want to as they would only try and "upgrade" me to a pay account or sell me something. He said no yada yada then say very quickly they were dropping it to £3k then didn't say anymore. But also suggested something about another vantage, I already have 3. So I said u can only have three and shortly after by almost mutual consent the call was ended! I am not going in.

Try to phone main helpline couldn't get through. Phoned rates line was told they knew nothing but would only get told on the day. I asked whether I would get a letter as that's what I had been told on the call. She said unless local branch called in stead, surely they have to give written confirmation anyway?
