Facebook problems (again!)

Any Facebook fans on here?
I am trying to find out how to disable posts to my wall WITHOUT losing people's posts that have already been posted.
When I go to my admin section and unclick the 'enable friends to post to wall' button, it takes all PREVIOUS posts made by friends off my page. Is there any way that I can close my wall to NEW posts, whilst keeping previous posts from friends intact? After all, I'd assumed that disabling friends posting to wall referred to posts in the future and not those from the past!
Any help most appreciated!

I think it just kicks them all apart from yours.. Though you can just get rid of them by the blue cross next to the posts you dont want.. labour intensive i know but there you go."If you no longer go for a gap, you are no longer a racing driver" - Ayrton Senna0

Jeff, I wanted to keep all my birthday messages showing on my wall, but at the same time, I wanted to re-set my wall to its previous state, which was with the 'allow friends to post on wall' unticked. Unfortunately, it seems that when you untick this box, it also makes all original posts from friends made previously just disappear! Argh!! Why do these large companies never think things through properly??0
