I have a wireless network called Bill

I have a new PC which connects to the router via cable, so not wireless.

My new PC says the network is Tom Which is what the wireless network was called when I tried to set it up first time a few years ago.

Is Tom what my original PC thinks the network is called and Bill is just the wireless network

I'm going down the shared printer route next:eek: When I understand this:rolleyes:

Log into the router and see what the actual SSID is set to, or change it to Fred etc. so that you know it's your network.

Does the new pc have a wireless card as well, but you are connecting wired?

PS I'd turn off the ssid broadcasting, to stop every !!!!!! and harry trying to connect to Tom.:rotfl:

I used to work at a place where all the servers were named after hallucinogenic drugs, how we chortled whenever the admin staff broadcast messages - "Would everyone please stop using LSD!"

A router should be able to cope with a lot of connections.

I'm a bit confused as to what the problem is..

The netbios name is different from the ssid (which is purely a wireless name)
