in Techie Stuff
I've been using them since the early days when they were Play247 and used to sell R1 discs. Switched to them when BlackStar started charging for delivery.
They used to make sure that the new releases were shipped as soon as they came in so that you got the order either on the day of release or a day early. Now they just seem to have the items 'in stock' for a couple of days before they bother shipping them so there's a good chance you'll get stuff up to a week after release.
If you pre-ordered an item they would hold the price so that you never paid any extra. In recent months I've had two items that were 'deleted' and then relisted at a higher price which needed an argument with the Philapino call centre to get fixed.
My first order was in 2000 and they used to ship items Recorded Delivery, and generally just seemed to be more interested in providing a good service at the start. Now they have become just another faceless box shift willing to sacrifice quality to keep the price/costs as low as possible.
So who would you recommend now for DVDs, Computer Games etc?
What about R1 DVDs?
I could just pick another supplier at random and try them out but I would much rather see what experiences others are having with them before trying them out.

Amazon for general
shopto.net for games (especially if pre ordering)
base for cheap dvds/blurays (Not always, but generally some good bargains on there)
Dont really buy region 1 dvds so unsure about that (Though I have used amazon for a few):idea:0 -
Amazon I sometimes use ///BLOODBATH IN THE EVENING THEN? OR PERHAPS THE AFTERNOON? OR THE MORNING? OH, FORGET THIS MALARKEY!

aliEnRIK has the right idea. It would be silly just using one or two sites to buy CD's, DVD's, Games etc. (As i've found out the hard way)
Last christmas I managed to save £14 on babysitting mama on the Wii just by checking out some sites away from the norm (Play, Amazon, Argos etc)R.I.P Dad. I will never forget you xxx0 -
I'll take at base and shopto, and I have used amazon in the past. Shopping around may be the answer, but it used to be that the service was so good with Play that you put up with the odd item that was a little more expensive, now with the service level no different than the rest it just means more work for the consumer.0

I ordered a CD box set from Play.com last week which arrived the day before the official release date. There's love in this world for everyone. Every rascal and son of a gun.
It's for the many and not the few. Be sure it's out there looking for you.
In every town, in every state. In every house and every gate.
Wth every precious smile you make. And every act of kindness.

I'm still waiting for Crysis 2, it was showing as in stock on their website last Monday (21st) and they waited until Wednesday to actually ship it.
Looks like I'll have to give Amazon another try as it sounds like they may have upped their game due to all the competition.0 -
I pre ordered Crysis2 for the PS3 through shopto.net about 5 days before release
It arrived 2 days before release date (happened a few times now):idea:0 -
Amazon are always pretty good.
HMV aren't bad either. Last year I was looking for a particular Wii game, Google threw up the HMV page, and they were half the price of anywhere else. It just happened to be a special offer that was on at the time, but I was well chuffed :-)0
