Applying for the M&S card (too early?)

Hi,
Current position
I have been stoozing on the Tesco card over the past 11 months and now have spent £2600 on the card. The 0% ends on the 17th April and I'm all set to pay off the card in full a week or so before.
I also have a halifax credit card that get's paid off in full every month (currently about £270 on there).
Obtaining the M&S card
I'd really like to make use of the M&S card for the next 15 months of stoozing but am not sure if I should be applying for it before paying off the Tesco card in full as it may impact on the credit rating check showing I'm already £2600+£270 'in debt' elsewhere.
Should I wait and risk the M&S card being taken off the market, or go for it now when it's available without fear of being declined the card based on current 'debt' (not really debt since I have lots of savings to cover me)?
Many thanks for the advice,
Jon
