I've read some stories about free extended warranties included when buyng some goods with some credit cards.
I want to do this for a laptop.
The only 2 cards I've found that offer free extended warranties are Citibank Platinum and Nationwide, but they don't include latops in their list of eligible goods.
Does anyone know of a credit card that does offer extended warranties on a laptop purchase.
thanks,
dan

Nat West Platinum Card covers laptops.

Thanks for the tip. Haven't found their list of covered products.
General description on their site implies it turns 1 year into 2 years, not 2 into 3, etc.
thanks,

I phoned Nat west after buying a laptop and the
reply was they had just started cover for them,
2 years accidential insurance applied, covered
by Domestic & General.
Only 90 days cover from Dell computers.

I just phoned them. Initially told had to pay for the warranty, but then got thru to the warranty section (0870 608 0890) and they said you can register up to 3 appliances a year, and they add 2 years to the manufacturers warranty, and its free. Laptops are included.
That clinches it for me

Sorry for reviving this old thread, but what's new on the extended warranty front.
Tried to call Natwest but couldn't get through, it seems this extended warranty is linked to their gold account now.
Is Citibank the only one left?0 -

no nationwide and also hsbc premier account, they give 2 years instead of just oneINCREASE INTEREST ON SAVINGS!
...I will thank you if youve been helpful, please do the same! :j0 -
Nationwide do not insure laptops or anything with a hardrive.
HSBC cost 13£/month I think, not really worth it.
Thanks anyway.
it depends, there are a number of exemptions with the HSBC card...INCREASE INTEREST ON SAVINGS!

you could always buy a laptop from John Lewis, most of there electrical products inc laptops have extended warranties as standard! whats more they tend to price match if you push them a bit!0

thanks guys.
I have just called Natwest, they do offer extended warranty for Laptops if you buy it using the platinum CC. They insure the 2nd only though. so if the laptop comes with 2 year insurance or more, then Natwest CC if of no use.
other conditions, Item has to be bought in the UK, new and for personal use.
