Just made a jelly/carnation milk dessert. Only used half the can of carnation milk and don't know what to do with the rest of it. Any ideas. I hate waste. Thanks

There's a chocolate cake in the recipe thread somewhere... and its lush!!

It uses carnation milk cos I made some a fortnight ago, I put some in the freezer and took one out the other night... it was even better after having been in there!

:j I make real cocoa. Put 1 tsp cocoa, 1tsp sugar in the bottom of a cup and add about an eggcupful of carnation, mix to smooth paste. Then boil kettle and add the boiling water up to two-thirds full and mix thoroughly, fill up to top with more evaporated milk. There you are- cocoa without dirtying a pan. I believe cocoa is full of magnesium and the milk has calcium and protein so it is good for you too!;jearn what you can, save what you can, give what you can :hello:0

You can freeze the remainder for next time you want to make the dessert! Not as tasty as the other answers though :rotfl:I let my mind wander and it never came back!0

I used to make this for my children, by making a jelly with ½ pint boiling water, allow to cool but not set, then pour in the can od Carnation and whisk till it almost doubles in volume. Put in fridge to set.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
I'd use up the leftover Carnation as part of the milk in a rice pudding.
Or put it with some choc dots in the microwave on medium to make a sauce for icecream0 -

Hi there Cooltrickerchick.
Got this recipe from my MIL and haven't made it for ages.
I make an orange jelly using half pint boiling water to dissolve the jelly cubes. When the jelly has cooled and started to set (MUST HAVE STARTED TO SET OTHERWISE IT MIGHT SEPERATE) i whisk in the carnation milk up to the pint mark.
Don't add anymore otherwise it doesn't set.
Then i put in the fridge.
Once set i arrange Mandarine segmants around the edge (tinned).
Also if you want to you can use the juice out of the tin to make up the jelly in the first place.IYSWIM.
We love chocolate so i finish off with a little grated chocolate over the top.
Haven't tried it with any other flavour jelly but it will work just the same.
Hope this isn't too confusing.

My family have made this pud with the carnation and jelly for years - I thought it was just something that we did!!!! Our family calls it fluff.
Sorry, that was no help to your initial question!!
