I get paid tomorrow but am in desperate need of petrol! If I put some petrol in today, will I get a bank charge for doing so? My wage is already coming up as pending for tomorrow. I will probably go to Tesco to fill up...

I think you should walk and then fill up next week. :money:0

If you use pay@pump you should be fine as it only auths £1 then takes the rest a couple of days later.
(but if it's a debit make sure you go to the pay@pump only pumps as they seem to accept my HSBC debit card.)0 -
Do you have an overdraft, if not debit card transaction will not be authorised and you cannot pay to fill up. I suggest if you do not have a credit card to apply for one, it's in times like these that we all need to borrow short term.0

You won't get charged for a overdraft (unauthorised) under £10.....0

Every bank's threshold is different and I would not advise going into an unauthorised overdraft as its not really there.
I'm giving it as a last resort. And HSBC do not charge for under £10, it says on their website.What is our fair fees policy?
Our fair fees policy means that we won't charge you for agreeing either a formal or informal overdraft request unless they occur frequently.
We won't charge an arrangement fee if we haven't agreed to an overdraft request from you within the last six months.
We won't charge you more in arrangement fees than the overdraft requested (e.g. a £15 overdraft will not cost you say, £50).
We won't charge you an arrangement fee for an overdraft request of £10 or less.
We won't charge you additional fees if it's the overdraft fees (or interest) that have taken you overdrawn, or further overdrawn.
We will not charge you more than one arrangement fee a day.
We won't charge you an arrangement fee for informal requests if your account is credited with covering funds by the end of the same day.0 -

But is an informal overdraft request (a term I've never heard before) the same thing as an unauthorised overdraft? I suspect it isn't and that the OP would be charged if he is able to make the transaction without the funds in place to cover it.0 -

Yes it is the same thing.
Formal = Authorised
Informal = Unauthorised
