Can I put a search word in HotUKDeals?
I know you can search by shop & stuff, but I want to put in a search word (well 2 actually, Bugaboo & Icandy) & get an email if anyone posts anything with either of these words.
Is that possible?
I tried last night but couldn't do it:(:o

At the top of the picture of the user who posted the deal there are 2 arrows, 1 going down (blue) and 1 up (red) and you click red or blue whether you think its hot or cold0

I was going to, I wasn't able to work out where to post it on there either.
I'm not very good on that website, I tried to post a deal on there at the weekend & couldn't.0 -
So can I set hotukdeals up to email me if someone posts a deal on a certain word then?0

I don't usually thank abuse but in this case I'll make an exception. :rotfl:
Doc N, you've got it wrong, it's not misplaced threads that spoil MSE, it's posters like you who show no tolerance and feel the need to be rude in their reply.Herman - MP for all!0 -

Whilst respecting your viewpoint, of course, perhaps you'd explain what was rude about my reply? I take great care to avoid rudeness, and although you may disagree with the sentiments expressed, there was certainly nothing rude.
What happened, let's remember, was that a member with 19,000 posts decided to ask a question about how to use another moneysaving website. Instead of posting the question there, she posted it here. No particular problem with that, unusual though it may be (as someone else pointed out), but isn't it just a little selfish to choose to do that on a board that's clearly marked, with an equally clear message that it's not for requests:
Quick! Grabbit while you can
For reporting hot bargains, not requesting them
Understandable in an inexperienced member, but surely someone with so much experience of using MSE could reasonably be expected to take a degree of care when posting requests for information about other websites?
The Grabbit board is one of the most popular boards (possibly the most popular) on this website. The reason it's so popular is that it's a very quick way of finding the best deals around at any given time. It's a great board, but it loses its impact if it's clogged with requests that shouldn't be there from experienced members who should know better. I'm not alone in raising this - it's a fairly frequent complaint, and it devalues the entire forum if experienced people choose to ignore the posting guidelines.
Sorry to have gone on. But there was no rudeness, and if you feel it's intolerant to raise this matter with an experienced poster, then I'm afraid we must disagree. My concerns are simply that the very valuable content of this board should not be so watered down that it becomes too time consuming to bother to wade through.0 -
Unfortunately I cannot read Doc N's original reply to make my own mind up whether it was 'rude' or 'abusive', but his second reply sounds quite reasonable and makes me suspect the moderators may have been too eager to delete yet another post. I have had some perfectly reasonable posts of my own removed in the past because someone who didn't agree "complained".0

Unfortunately because it's been deleted, and I didn't quote you at the time, I can't reply to your query with the proper wording used by you.
Suffice to say there are nice ways to make your point and not so nice ways. Yours was the latter. Imo.Herman - MP for all!0 -

I think we must disagree on this, because I think the point was made perfectly nicely. As Pendulum so correctly observes, some posts are deleted simply because somebody disagrees with a particular viewpoint, and that's what seems to have happened here.
Such is life........................:)0
