well, I was dusting my keyboard whilst online, I know I shouldn't do that now....

So I really should have shut down but I didn't so I must have pressed lots of keys at once (desktop computer, windows XP) and now my screen display has moved to the right and there is a grey space down the left side.

I clicked onto the edge of the display and the 2 sided arrow came up so I dragged it back but it's only shifted about half of the distance and there is a 1.5cm gap - what can I do to coax it back to the edge of the monitor

Not sure about xp, don't use it, but is this not done by buttons on your monitor?

Perhaps your video card utilites has an onscreen menu for moving the picture.?

I think when you dragged you were actually resizing it, making it bigger, so it only apeared to move half the distance. It probably grew at the other side by the same amount, but can't see it.
