Item not delivered yet.....

I sold a DVD on 17/03 and posted it on 19/03 and the buyer says they have not yet received it. I did obtain a proof of postage.
However the buyer has emailed asking me the whereabouts of this DVD and I have explained I have posted it.......I have just received an email from ebay to say that the buyer has tried to open a case against me.......how is this fair when the item is probably still in the hands of Royal Mail and circumstances beyond my control?!
I am worried that the buyer is going to really start kicking off and leave me negative feedback....
ANY ADVICE GRATEFULLY RECEIVED!!!

You will be given a chance to put your case forward (scan in your proof of purchase). If not, just refund the buyer and take it up with royal mail - you can claim for lost / missing items athough not done it personally!0

Because you entered into a contract to deliver the item to the buyer. You then sub-contracted the delivery to the RM, you are responsible for that, not the buyer. The buyer has no contract with the RM, you have, you paid them to do something, so if they don't do it, it is your responsibility.funlovingprincess wrote: »I am worried that the buyer is going to really start kicking off and leave me negative feedback....
And somewhere there is a buyer who is worried that they have paid someone for a DVD they are not going to get.
I don' know you, and I don't know the buyer, so I can't take sides. But the fact is, the buyer has a contract with you for you to deliver the goods. You have a contract with the RM to deliver the goods to the buyer, so it is up to you to sort it out.
If the buyer contacts the RM they have every right to refuse to do any thing, or tell him anything, because they don't have a contract with him. But they do have a contract with you, you have paid them to deliver something, so you have the right to ask them why they haven't delivered it, and get them to look into it.
If I were you I would tell the buyer that you are looking into it, then give the RM a few more days to deliver it.
But if it's not delivered, you are to blame.0 -
Scanning a proof of postage is a waste of everyone's time.
Op, if you cannot prove delivery then you must refund the buyer. Then use your recipt to claim from RM.0 -

there was a thread a while back about how even just clicking on the link to open a claim will trigger an email from ebay
one poster was testing the claim link using an item he had already received, just clicked on it, didn't take it any further and the seller contacted him after receiving an email from ebay0 -

I don't think it was him actually, but I might be wrong.
The poster did not mean any harm, it was because of what was discussed on the thread that they were looking at the claim process, they were not trying to open a false claim.
Saying that the seller must have thought '!!!!!!???'0 -
Ah, this was the one I remembered....now heres an interesting one
when i read your post,i went ot my ebay and picked a recent purchase
clicked i hadnt received the item,Ebay says its too soon and to wait(i had the item, but was just checking what ebay shows)
seller has messaged me to ask why i was trying to open a dispute
so the system must message the seller even when the buyer might just click the wrong link0 -
