Software to download You Tube music?

I had an excellent program installed whereby you could download any song from Youtube and burn it on to a disc. However, after my laptop had to be wiped due to a virus, I lost the program and can't remember what it was called.

Any ideas? It could do lots of other stuff too, but can't remember what as i only used the Youtube facility.

Google is your friend on this but again your getting into the murky waters of what you are doing being legal if your grabbing music from there and do not have the right to own it..

JB Hair, I know, I know and I don't want to get into a discussion either. To be honest, I just wanted to make a suitable CD compilation for my son's birthday party. Most of the stuff I already have on albums, but it would be so much easier to use software and get it direct from youtube.

I have looked through Google, but none of the software names ring a bell and I don't want to pick any old one, as I was assured the one I had before was safe.

If you already have the albums then i cant see why you would want to rip them from youtube when the quality would be so much better straight from the albums.. Unless they were records but in this modern world theres only a few of us left who buy them..

I use video2mp3.net as my partner is a teacher and is always after a certain nursery rhyme or audio book. you just copy the link and paste it into the box and start. Really simple to use without downloading anything.

Thanks so much for your recommendations, very useful as I don't want to choose the wrong one and end up with viruses or ones that are problematic to use.

Jeff Bridges - The software I had before apparently ensure really good sound quality. I do prefer to buy CD's but always get them 2nd hand anyway as I can't afford full price. I just want to make my own compilation, are there websites where you can buy single tunes for reasonable prices, with an extensive catalouge of old and new music?
