How much counselling is available through the NHS?

I have only reached 6 x 1:1 counselling sessions via GP.
(bit annoying as can take time to open up and bang it's over!)
CBT up to 20 sessions. (took about a year to start and had to go through various tiers of assessments)
Some employers offer welfare services with 1:1 counselling and telephone support.

When I was referred by my GP I only got 6 sessions but when I was referred by the mental health team I got unlimited although if I'd had a year of counselling I would have had to change counsellor so as not to develop an unhealthy attachment.0
