I am moving to a new build and Sky cannot find the address and therefore cannot arrange to move my subscription.
Sky have told me to contact Royal Mail and Open Reach myself!
I found a link on Royal Mail with an email address to send a new address to, but I dont like the open ended ness of that.
Does anyone have any experience of this and if so how long it takes for Royal Mail to respond?
Many Thanks

If the council has named and numbered the development (likely if you're buying it) then it's probably on Royal Mail's not yet built file and needs to be moved across to PAF which is the live database. The online form for new builds does work and can take up to a week (it can take longer for this to filter out to external companies like SKY) but if you don't get any joy with that then it might be best to approach the street naming and numbering department at your local council.0

Thanks so much.
I have filled in the Royal Mail form and will contact the council tomorrow.0 -
we had the same problem when we first bought our flat.
we checked on the royal mail website and our address did show up even though you can't search for it on anywhere else, i.e. google map.
we managed to register with sky at one of the stands in our shopping mall (again as new customer, as this way, we got a new skyplus box).
just make sure that when they come to install, you tell them exactly where you are, as they won't find you with your new postcode. we missed one of our appointments coz the BT engineer couldn't find us!0 -

I was on hold for ages and the call was 30 minutes in total so I was desperate to get off the phone, so its only now I've thought about it that it is disgraceful Customer Services for Sky to ask ME the customer to do their leg work, its like they dont want my business!
I'll call back tomorrow and give them what for, they dont seem very capable of thining outside the box. It literally was COMPUTER SAYS NO!
I suppose I still need to chase up Royal Mail anyway as other service providers may have the same issue.0 -
Email Royal Mail advising them your address is now active and post should be delivered: addressmaintenance@royalmail.com. Your address remains dormant until they are told somebody moves in. Usually a developer will do this but it can take them a few weeks to get round it it. Royal Mail had me in their address book within 24 hours. BT should know about you as they'll be aware of the development. Sky however...........! I'm 3 months down the road on mine and my address mostly isn't recognised on websites. Good Luck! PS. You won't be able to redirect your mail until you email the above.0
