Re-installing Vista

After doing all the checks recently advised, and finding no malware or virus problems, I still have the issue with my scanner not working on my desktop, works fine with the HP software with my laptop, so have eliminated that. I think I need to repair or reinstall Vista. I have the disks which came with the Medion, but it is not booting from the disk. The disk will open fine when windows is running, but cannot seem to do a repair or re-install without doing a second copy which is not what I want. The PC is now out of warranty, can anyone help with this.
I have been into Bios and ensured that the Boot Sequence is CD first, HD second.
Thanks DG

Is the DVD you have deffo bootable and have you booted off it before?,what is the disk called that you have?0

If you see press any key to boot from CD and nothing happens, try a wired keyboard
If you switch it on with the disc in, try tapping the enter key0 -
It's a bit drastic re-installing Vista just to get a printer working.
There is no guarantee that this will solve the problem.
Have you tried Googling for newer drivers for your printer?
What happens when you try add printer in Vista?

Boot up as normal, and then run the cd from windows and do a custom install, this should allow you to do a clean install without bootable media.0

It is a bit drastic, but it was getting slow, and cluttered, and I do have it well backed on USB HDDs x2.
Well in the end I found out the problem in Bios, there was another option, forget its exact name but had something with IDE in it I think (Medion PC) and when I put the HDD below this and the CD then it booted from the disk, and apologies for the delay but have now re-built it.
It has fixed the scanner problem, just got to work out how to get the USB Turntable and Audiocity connected then I am away. Plus of course the constant Vista updates it keeps finding.
