Leaving tenancy early

I'm leaving my tenancy three months early due to having to relocate for work. My landlord has been good about it and if they are able to find another tenant they will release me from the contract. I know that I will be liable for the rent until the end of my tenancy and the council tax (this will actually increase as I'll lose my 25% single person discount and will only be given a 10% discount for an empty furnished flat which seems very stupid as I'll be using less facilities). I've already informed the gas and electric companies of the date I'll be leaving the property, but I'm now wondering if I have jumped the gun and actually I should be paying until the end of my tenancy. After I leave the only gas and electric being used will be by the landlord when they are decorating/doing DIY to get the flat ready for the next tenant, but I guess there is still the standing charge to pay. I just want to make sure I'm doing everything by the book and correctly. Feeling quite stressed about the whole thing as I'm now really worried about how I'll manage to afford rent, council tax and bills on two properties as I'm not sure my wages will go that far, particularly as I don't think I'll get paid in my new job for the first 6 weeks
Any advice or comments that my doing everything correctly would be appreciated. Thanks
