Hi I have been looking at the bags which you can grow veg in> Not the low down grow bags , but the proper Bag shaped ones<

Has any one used these and do you think filling an asda or morrisons thick bag for life would work instead ? How do these bags normally drain ? Thanks for reading

People have used them before (not me); what are you planning to grow as nutrients needed hve to be taken into account.

A multi-purpose compost bag turned inside out can also be used.

If you have garden space, I think this would win everytime.

I saw some of these in poundland today. They were 100cmx44cm. It was made out of the stong bag for life type material (green). they looked very good value for a £1. I have not used them myself but I think they would be very good.

I have used these to grow potatoes in to save space. The size of the potatoes were the same as the ones that I grew in my Mum's garden. They are good however the ones I have took a lot of compost but I got most of it from lidl on offer.

Hi I used the bags for life ( Morissons) for my potatoes last year, I just put a few holes in for drainage. I got a great crop, in fact a lot better than my neighbours in the fancy/expensive patio planters!;)

    Hi
I have a potato set and a veg set of these as i don't have any garden at all. Last year i planeted 3 types of potatos, courgettes and spring onions, all of which worked really well. So i am branching out this year and doing a few more veg :)
Drainage are little holes in the bag, so nothing too complex.

I have used the Tesco bags for life before and the return of spuds was just ok. This time round I'm going to mix in more soil with the compost in the hope that water will be retained.

I wonder if those liquid crystal things would help if mixed in too?
