Ok, but that's a 3 bedroom flat in somewhere pretty upmarket I'm guessing? Because I can still see reasonable 3 bed flats 20-25 mins out from Central London (Bromley or the like) for about £180k.

It's all relative I suppose - folk living in Central London pay for easy access to one of the most fascinating cities in the world (well, to me anyway!)

Bromley is really the outskirts of London, not London itself.

We're buying in Bloomsbury, which is pretty central. Handy for both of us to get to work, and close to our son's school.

I'm aware of that, but I could get to Charing Cross in 19 minutes, so it's all relative. Bloomsbury is about it central as it comes, so my point was just that your mortgage isn't exactly indicative of what the average buyer would spend.

Still, a lovely part of a lovely city, sure you'll be very happy there :)

Thanks, I'm sure we shall be.

Bromley to Charing Cross is more than 19 mins, though - it's more like 40 mins, changing at either Grove Park (from Bromley North) or Orpington (from Bromley South).

Sorry - I meant Victoria - 19 mins with no stops from Bromley South. I tend to mix the two up as my first London job was just round the corner from Charing Cross and the second was just round the corner from Victoria :o
