Beware estimated bills!

We received an estimated bill from N power so read the meter and as there was a difference on the gas usage thought ok will get a reduced bill. HOW WRONG WAS I?? New bill came and it was £30 quid more. As the original bill had two different price tariffs, the blighters had reduced the usage on the cheaper tariff then upped the usage on the higher tariff so we ended up with a higher bill even though we had used less Gas!
We queried it and they said it was correct. Although the woman we spoke to said she had had loads of complaints about it from other customers. still had to pay the extra £30 back though. any suggestions

Hi fatkev61 - Your problem is that you are with n'power, who alone in the industry have decided to charge more 'Prime' units in the winter, unlike the rest of the industry who ration the allocated annual quantity of Prime units to each day the bill covers

I'm afraid that n'powers history is one of the highest levels management dreaming up wheezes to screw more money from the customers, but before you rush to Switch, be aware the you will get a serious money cash-back sum from n'power after you have made 12 consecutive D/Debit payments, so best not to Switch till you have got it - Though you will still be caught by the 'wheeze' that by the time you leave you will have made at least one D/Debit payment that includes a contribution to the next cash-back, which you will never get

Apart from having a stupid method of allocating more high priced tier 1 units to the winter months, Npower haven't done anything wrong and it will all even out if you stay with them a year i.e. you won't have paid for extra tier 1 units.

Note that this has little to do with seasonal weighting. The exact same thing can happen with a flat distribution of tier 1 units.
