6 month insurance policies

Hi,
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to insure contents for 6 months without having to take out a 12 month contract and then cancelling it?
All the companies I have spoken to so far charge between £20-£50 for cancelling a policy and won't insure for 6 months.
I'm on secondment with work and I'm only renting a property for 6 months hence the question being asked.

I was wanting to get contents insurance for 6 months, or was wondering what would happen if I change address as well. I want to go with Endsleigh and can't find anywhere on the website where I can find out.
If I pay monthly does that mean I can cancel it after 6 months?
