Advantis & Orange

Hi
Just looking for some advice. Received a letter from Advantis credit in Nov 10 asking for us to confirm name and address which we did and they told us we have a o/s bill from Orange (mobile) for around £120.00 in 2007.

We had no knowledge of any debt and asked them to send us a copy of a bill and then we could check it. Since then we have received many letters asking us to contact them which we do however around late Jan they decided that there is no copy of a bill but they would give us a statement of account. Again nothing except a letter asking us to contact them which once again I did and they said would go out in next two weeks.

This was three weeks ago and still nothing We have since looked on credit report and there is a default from Arrow Global in May 2008.

If they are not willing to supply any paperwork what can I do about this?

    You can keep ignoring them.
However, if you think that this debt never existed and are worried about your credit history it is worth checking your credit files.

contact orange and ask them to verify the bill, the sooner ther better as a default can cost you

Thank you for your replies however I was under the impression that once Orange had sold the debt on they would not talk to you. Is this not true?

If it was an error Orange are the only one who can correct it.

I wouldn't bet on the former:
... I phoned orange thinking it might be a scam and they found my account under the old address but could only say that it was passed on to a 3rd party..

    Thanks for all your replies.
I have actually received a statement of account from them today however it is not a print out but a really badly typed statement on Orange headed paper. I will have to try and dig further as last entry on statement is is a credit on account for July but they added the default in May 2008.
