Parking Fine letter from UK Parking Patrol Office

Dear All,

As my car is registered at my parents address, over the weekend I've received a letter from UK PARKING PATROL Office informing me that I was fined back in February and I have missed the payment and now owe them £90 with in 14 days (6 days left).

They warned me that this is the final formal demand and my details will be passed on to debt collector agents and then court etc

I am extremely sure that I didn't park in their area as I have seen their signs but sure that I parked after the roundabout where their signs end.

I am upset that i didn't see any ticket in the first place but they said they have photographic evidence.

My Parents are now kicking off that they dont want bailiffs around etc to harass them and also it took me years to recover my credit history and i dont want to ruin it again

I need valuable advise from all the experienced personal who have been through this experience.....

Please advise on what to do

Even my car is not worth more then the fine

Thanks

Mr Master

Same advice as with all private parking companies. Save the letters for extra winter fuel!
One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.
  • First, It's not a fine, just an invoice. Private companies cannot impose fines, even if they try to look official by calling themselves "UK Parking Patrol Office".

"Debt Collectors" are NOT bailiffs, and have no powers to do anything other than write to you begging for money.

You will not end up in court because they know very well they have no case.

Your credit file cannot possibly be affected unless they actually take you to court, win, and then you still don't pay up.

Just ignore all their threats, they are trying to scare you into paying money you do not owe.

first things first: do not respond to any communication from UKPPO. this is important. they're on a fishing trip, trying to determine who the driver was on the day of the 'infringement'. it needn't be you and you're under no obligation to tell them who was.

ignore any debt-collection agency demands. as has been said here numerous times, debt-collectors are private citizens with no special powers - don't confuse them with bailiffs.

UKPPO have no power to fine you. you've been issued with a charge. maybe I'll fine you for asking for help on here; seriously: would you pay me?

there's next to no chance of UKPPO going to court. and even if they did, taking the advice offered on pepipoo or CAG would give you a strong defence.

for bailiffs to call and you credit rating trashed it requires a court ruling in favour of the parking co. (highly unlikely) and your failure to pay within 28 days, regardless of what UKPPO or their debt-monkeys might claim.

finally: go to the first sticky on this page and compare letters.

    NEVER PAY A PPC.

Please tell your parents to read up on this generic scam - they must wise up about this!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAIcdi9niHA

Above is Watchdog's advice on exactly what to do with a fake PCN like yours. And below is a thread with pictures of all the usual debt collector rubbish threatogram letters. Show your parents both links and tell them that no-one should fall for this phishing junk mail.

Even if your car had been parked as they claim, you would STILL ignore the cowboys. My car parked for 4 hours in a 2 hour car park 2 years ago and got a fake PCN which made me smile! Then I just collected all the letters & taught my worried OH not to panic as it's all just a generic scam.

  • Hi

I have a similar notice from the UKPP office, although I was at Newcastle Airport, where there are multiple signs, double yellow lines and I was parked on a roundabout at night for about 5 minutes behind someone else who was also parked there. The reason being, that Newcastle International now charge you for going into their car park, and I was unsure as to how long I would need to be in there for.

Do I also have a case here, and should I ignore the 'notice'?

    Many thanks

This is an ancient thread to bump again, bearing in mind we get at least 20 new ones every single day! I guess you didn't know that?

    Quick forum use tip:

When you find a random thread on any online forum, take a step back and look at the sub-forum, the board the thread sits on and read the info threads at the top which are called 'stickies' as they stick permanently at the top of the board like notices.

To do this, look at the top of this page for the blue link starting Home > Forums > and so on (it's in small writing, always written as a chain-link on any forum, always with > inbetween each step, and it ends with the name of this thread).

So ALWAYS take a step back. Click on the link before the name of the thread. Clue - it's mentioned in my signature!

If ever you find a random forum post when searching for information online, do not just reply on it as it's confusing to hijack a thread that someone else started. Always look at the actual board the thread sits on by going back one link in the chain and starting your own thread if the stickies do not have the answer you are looking for.

    Hope that makes sense.

Now if you try that, please read the stickies (info threads at the top) by clicking on the end of the Home > Forums > 'breadcrumb link' at the top.

You will find a must-see Watchdog clip, cunningly hidden in the sticky thread 'welcome, please read before posting'! And also look at the letter chains in the top sticky thread.

That's what will happen - just letters. Ignore them completely. But do read up on the scam and watch the Watchdog clip now I have explained how to find the sticky info threads.
