is there any benefits to claim for being a full time carer?

hi,i have now become my nans full time carer.i sleep everynight and do whatever needs doing in the daytime.but i have been looking to see if i can claim any benefits because i have no time to work with looking after my nan.i applied for direct payments but my nan was told she would have to pay 75% of the cost-ridiculous!!!!!.i get carers allowance for looking after my mum so i cant claim that either.is there anything i am entitiled to?

    In a nutshell no probably not as you say you already get CA for another person.

    Does your Nan get Attendance Allowance? If she does, she could pay you a bit each week from that.

    As above yeah, if your single and have no other income apart from CA then Income support is an option. However the only other route wuld have been direct payments which you have already looked into.

    What i would say is beware if your nan lives on her own and gets pension credit/HB or CTB that she may lose the severe disability premium if you either did claims carers in the future( if your current one stopped) or if your classed as living there.

    If she doesnt get any of those then just ignore me, but sometimes losing that amount can severely affect somebody's benefit, although you may be between a rock and a hard place as she needs the care.
