Not sure if this is the place but hope someone can help. I am giving a talk about my grandfathers WW1 service and want to project some pics to illustrate it. I have some of his pics but want to add more. The pics I can find available on the net are all low res and not suitable for projecting. I only need a few and the talk is not paid so don't want to pay a fortune. Would have thought they were out of copyright so where can I get some pics?

I guess the problem is that for projection you need a resolution that is far higher than anyone could justify putting on a website.
It may be worth getting in touch with the person that runs this one:

They seem happy for people to use their photos (as long as you don't link to them on their website), and might send you higher res ones if they know the purpose?0 -
Usually in the movies they just announce out loud "enhance" or "enhance that", and mash the keyboard until they get very high resolution close ups.
Hope this is of some help to you.
(alternatively you can use www.tineye.com to potentially track down larger versions of your photos)0 -
Thanks both of you will follow up.0
