Just curious here - i have a decent salary right now but will be taking up a new position around july/august with a substantial increase in salary - i have one partially satisfied default which will drop off in september and will be looking to apply for a main stream card in October - will national hunter flag me for a big increase in salary ?

Been reading more about this national hunter so just wondering.

Thanks :)

Is this new position with a new employer do you mean?
If so it shouldn't do, providing your application also says your new employer is a different name to the old one and when asked how long you have been with this employer you say 4months (or whatever).

It would flag you up if you said you had worked for the new employer name for say 4years.

Sorry to sound dumb but what is the National Hunter? My pay recently went up by 5k a year. Could this be why I am being declined for things?

Say you apply for a mortgage, putting down an income of £100,000 then you withdraw that application for some reason. If you then apply to another lender, stating an income of £120,000, that would be flagged by the hunter system as a potential discrepancy exists between the two sets of data.

Hunter is used in the identification of possible fraudulent activity.

It seems to be an anti-fraud system to catch people out who are lying when applying for credit - some people may lie about there income to get bigger credit limits or more credit.

There is some blurb on national hunter on this article - http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/loans/credit-rating-credit-score#fraud which helps explain how national hunter works.

This shouldn't be an issue providing all the other info is correct. They do accept that people get payrises!
Plus then potential lender should tell you if you are being declined because of national hunter. My guess is its likely to be some other issue.

Thanks everyone for the answers. Probably the high level of debt currently. Just eager to get some of it transfered over to a long 0% CC. I have less "extra" to go toward the bad credit card now that my student loan is being paid too!!!
