I have noticed that when the cost of an international call is is given..using the 0844 prefix e.g. 'call charge is half a p per minute'...a new phrase has recently been added to the pre-recorded message
in a different voice...stating 'PLUS NETWORK CHARGES'....is there any way of checking these additional charges...,which frankly could be any amount....and could well make the cost of the calls, which were formally competitive, suddenly prohibitive....Any information/warning on the website would be helpful, as Moneysaving Expert.com is promoting and recommending this facility....??

The MSE International CallChecker shows the connection charge from whichever line provider you select. A connection charge can also be described as a call set-up fee and, I suppose, a network charge.

Are you saying you hear such an announcement? Which line provider do you use?Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
