Are they mercilessly hounding them though? - or did they agree to a temporary interest freeze and then issue a default notice in line with regulations.
OP hasn't mentioned them calling the house incessantly or sending out loads of harrassing letters.
Why should mere details like those get in the way of a good "human interest" story?
They don't normally.0 -

Thanks for thought though.

The thing is if I am honest, I have been managing to pay utilities, household stuff etc, husband is on liquid nutrition at them moment so no food needed for him and I don´t eat much at the moment anyway just quick and easy - to tired to do anything really and I have been so careful, we haven´t been out since November, OH too ill, cancelled Christmas as OH in hospital very ill and no immune system so couldn´t see anyone, and I think we could just about manage with no luxuries if it wasn´t for the debt, and I have even managed to keep those under control out of the benefits as well until this last month or so. We have 250 overdraft on day to day account we are using with other bank and I don´t use it at all, too scared to in case of emergency when I know if we are pushed it is there.
I don´t like to ask unless we are desperate for groceries etc and so save them for if that happens, in reserve so to speak.0 -
Just a thought do ´they´read these forums, if so maybe I have been foolish to mention the names of banks etc, could this cause any complications?0

I understand that.
Have you tried ringing the DLA & explaining your situation? Maybe they could bump your claim to the top of the pile?Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0 -

Have tried calling almost daily lately but they just say they are waiting for information, they needed report from gp, this was done and sent but DLA say they don´t have it so need new form so I have told them it was sent but they said it goes through stages and if they don´t receive anything in next few weeks they will chase it, I said I was informing them it had been sent but if they haven´t got it can they send another form to gp but it has to go from department to department etc so it is just a case of waiting.
Would love to be bumped tho hee hee

Fingers crossed you get it sorted very quickly hunTry to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0

You should change your username as it would be easy to identify you at the moment!
And you are right to be wary of a consolidation loan, you will end up with a bigger debt. The interest is piled on at the start of the loan and if you have to default on the repayments, the total owed will be much higher as the interest for the whole loan will be classed as part of the debt. There will be no chance of getting it removed.
The code of conduct that the OFT has drawn up for debt collectors (or collection departments) states that they should not encourage debtors to obtain further credit to service their outstanding debts. It may be worth reporting NatWest to the FOS and the OFT if they persist in this behaviour. Maybe write and tell them that you are going to report them, they may be a tad more sympathetic! (Although I wouldn't hold your breath)
The OFT guidance can be found here...(see section 2.6.b.)
