Summer Fair Raffle Prizes (June 18th)

I've been to local companies to get raffle prizes, but I want to find one big one for our Number one prize.

But what or who do you think would be good to approach?

Has anyone been a real beacon of hope?

Do you think it is worth approaching someone Like Chelsea or Man U to see if we can get a box or something like that?

Thanks

Nick

We contacted Liverpool last year and they basically told us they weren't willing to help. It all depends on what type of Charity you are, and what you are raising money for. Most companies these days, due to the economical status, won't help anyway. In my experience of course, so it may be different with the area you live in. Good luck :)
    Thanks to all posters :A

See if you can get donations of bottles of wine, chocolates, from your local co-ops, spars, supermarkets, if they each donate something put it all in a basket and do a hamper... its best to approach local shops, instead of writing to their hq, also if you can, go into town and go personally to the shops (with a letterheaded paper with your name on) and ask, my mum got huge bag of starbucks via for her tots group from doing that!
  • It is a bit like pulling teeth at the moment, but we're getting there. Loads of offers of help from local companies though.

    Thanks for your help though

    Cheers

  • You may end up offering say £100 as first prize and paying that yourself as most of the donations are likely to be £5-£10 prizes
  • Hmmmm..... might speak to the bosses about that idea - Hey you never know!!

I would say approach everyone you can!
All the local places for families to go out tend to give a pass for a family as you put up a poster thanking everyone who has donated.
You could try writting to the head offices of large companies but also ask your local football team.
Finally ask everyone you know who do they work for and will they help, this got us vouchers for tescos, sainsburys and a resturant voucher.
    Good luck :)

  • I've spoken to a few clubs that I'm waiting to hear from. So, it's getting a little bit easier.

    But thanks for that though

    Cheers

Our school PSA usually manage to get a sizeable donation of vouchers from Marks and Spencer. We do have a parent who works there so that helps, but they have specific charitable budgets to enable them to donate prizes from. The same goes with other chain stores such as supermarkets.

Alternatively, you could approach a hotel or expensive restaurant for vouchers for a meal out or something. I did this with Jamie Oliver's new restaurant in Westfield, London and got loads of goodies. They said that they were also donating to a few other school fairs that had approached them.

  • Try your local supermarkets. I know that Asda in our area always donates to our schools cake sales etc. Also Tesco is said to be good/
