Help with tax credits please.

Sorry to have to ask another tax credits question but Im new to this. I tried to claim tax credits a few months ago but didnt qualify. However, they told me that from this April I would qualify as our income has changed a lot since last November and that I should reapply in April with the information from our P60s.

My question is, my partner is now on benefits, will he automatically get a P60 in April?. I want to claim asap so worry I may be delaying getting my claim in.

If he left his job he should have a P45

Thank you for the reply. Yes he has a P45 but that was given last November and he has since been on benefit so the tax credits will want his full years income which is why Im asking if he will get something from the benefits office showing how much he has been paid since November.

    Hope that makes sense. thanks.

When you say you applied but didn't qualify - did you get a nil award? If so then you may already have an active application, so you might just be able to ring them up and give them your estimated income next year, and get interim payments till they send you the renewal.

Yes we got told that his earning were too high to qualify for the last tax year but that as our circumstances hgad changed we would def qualify from April.

I am happy to ring them up but as yet have not got my P60 from work or have the total amount my partner has recieved in benefits since last November and I assume I will need to know both.

No, if your claim is active they'll pay based on an estimate, then when you get the P60 etc they'll adjust the award. It can take till mid May to get P60s so I wouldn't wait till then.

Did you actually fill in an application form or were you told this over the phone?
