How to get back credit on Credit card

Hi, I overpaid on a payment to my credit card and it's now in credit; how do I recoup this money?

Should I just purchase something to the amount?
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.

    That would do it.

On the other hand, if it's a largish amount overpaid and you particularly need the cash, they will usually be happy to send you a cheque.

Many (most? all?) cards now have warnings against having positive balances but in practice I don't think they would worry if it was not a huge amount.

Contact the card and ask them to issue you a cheque (or a bank transfer) for the amount in credit. Don’t just withdraw it from an ATM, you probably will be hit with fees for cash withdrawal.

If it’s a small amount, why not just spend it and use the card for your daily shopping.

They can also transfer to a current account rather than issue a cheque.
