Hi

Can someone advise if and how much BT charge for moving phone lines to a new home. I am thinking of taking up a 12 month contract with them and its likely that i will move from my current home in next few monhts.

Do they charge for moving your home line to another exchange or any other fees?

Thanks
J

  • There will probably be a fee to set up the new line (not a fee for moving the line as such) at the new property, which may be waived if you take a [new] long contract.

Some providers offer month to month contracts. Additionally the early termination fees for exiting a 12 month contract at 6 months have been reduced.

If you think you're going to move in the next 12 months again, the exercise might be cheaper with a month-to-month provider however the setup fee is not then likely to be voided. So it's worth doing the maths.

Not sure why you would come onto the MSE site to ask this type of question ?

Why not just go to the bt website and search for "Moving Home" it is better to get the info from the horses mouth so to speak ;)

Because put simply, the charges depend on what is needed and what type of package / contract you take.
