Halifax reward a/c - just been told can't keep my 3

Would be interesting to hear if this has happened to anyone else. New policy, or just an overly efficient staff member?
Although I'm not going to call up to find out0 -
If they do downgrade 2 of your 3 accounts, surely you can just shift your funds away to another bank, close the accounts, and start with 3 fresh applications? Not sure if it is still possible to open more accounts after the first one, but it did work last year. I opened my 3 accounts, 1 application per month starting from February, just to lower the chance of being flagged up by the system. If you have DDs on them this might be a chance to take up the £100 switching offers by some banks....2nd Aug, 15: £276k. 18th Sep, 15: £269k. 30th Oct, 15: £265k.0

If they were a decent account in the first place, eg FP that actually works consistently, they would not need to invent rewards to get customers. If they invent such rewards then people will make the best of it. Complying with the terms is not abuse.
Quit complaining...if you don't like Halifax then go elsewhere. FP are NOT guaranteed and can revert to BACS if there are to many pending payments. We're at a tax year end and everyone is trying to transfer their remaining amounts into ISA so there is obvious pressure on the FP system.
I work for a bank and my pet hate is customers who moan when they don't know the facts.
As for the rewards...it's free money and NO-ONE else offers it so if you don't wanna take advatage of a free £5 then simply move your money.
rant over :T0 -
Halifax's fp service is much less reliable than others. Customers justifiably complain and your attitude is like it or lump it. No wonder you work for a bank.0

It's a fact that Halifax FP is much less reliable than other banks. I use FP a lot and I'd say it works about 20 to 25% of the time with Halifax and between 96% and 100% of the time with Tesco, Lloyds, and NatWest.0 -

Don't forget that FD also have more/stricter criteria when deciding which current account applications they approve, which I'd suggest preclude a lot more potential customers than other banks'.

Perhaps this shows that people are happier with value and reasonable service rather than poor value with great service.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Savings & Investments, Small Biz MoneySaving and House Buying, Renting & Selling boards. No idea where Halifax are today, but a few years ago they declined around 50% of all applications for current accounts.0
