Could anyone help an idiot?
A few months ago, my partner and I setup a joint account to cover our rent and bills etc. Every month on Pay day we pay into that account with me paying in the largest amount. My partner setup a standing order, however I kept just paying in on payday which is a few days before our rent is taken.
This month, I forgot to pay into the account, then yesterday i remembered, and logged on to find that they standing order hadn't been taken as there wasn't sufficient funds. I paid into the account and checked today to show it had cleared. I then rang the bank and explained what had happened and paid the amount for our rent and then re-setup the standing order.
I asked about my file - the lady from the bank told me that there was a note on the file for 'Returned Item' but there were no charges as it was the first time it had happened. I asked if it could be removed from the file and was told no.
So what I'd like to know from you good people is - has this affected my credit file - and how badly? I ask because my partner and I will soon be applying for a mortgage, and i've not had a mark on my file for 6 years and would be gutted if a silly over sight like this had affected my chances of getting a mortgage
Any info on this would be appreciated.
Thanks
Mark

Don't worry at all, it doesn't have any impact on your credit file.0

Music to my Ears, thank you sveika - I love you!0

As a one off it's fine, as they will look at your overall history.0

one-off = no effect0

No it won't affect your credit history, it is just a "one-off" and the bank can see this from how you generally conduct your account. They do realise people make mistakes from time to time hence why you had not incurred any charges.
If you were to keep doing this however it may affect what facilities your bank offer you eg. overdraft limit, other credit related products such as loans/credit cards. It would only show on your credit file if you were over your overdraft for a subsequent period and then they are obliged to advise the credit reference agency.0
