in Credit cards
Hi,
I have just transferred the balance from my post office card to halifax (balance of £1290), as the Halifax card offers a 0% balance transfers for 15 months.
I am also paying off an overdraft on my account (still 1800 pounds to go). We are throwing about 300 pounds a months at these debts, and hope to have them cleared by the end of this year.
Do you think I should close my PO office card now the balance has been settled? The reason I ask is because the card has a 0% foreign commission. I travel a lot with work and it *may* come in handy in case of emergencies when I am abroad. Would keeping it open and not spending on it affect my credit?
Hope you can offer some advice!
Thanks.

I would keep it as it gives a good forex. Keeping it open and not spending should be ok and won't affect your credit rating too much. Available credit that is unused will only be taken into consideration if you are applying for new credit elsewhere.0
